I extend a warm welcome for the new school year 2017 – 2018 to all high school students, parents, teachers, staff and AAG community. It is an honor to serve as the high school principal. Together we challenge the young women of AAG to take full advantage of what we have to offer; a rich American Common Core aligned curriculum in a nurturing small tight-knit learning environment with a wide variety of extra-curricular activities for the girls to choose from including winning athletic sport teams and community service outreach charitable experiences. We all strive together to provide a network of support and encouragement which complements the deep and lasting friendships the girls develop with each other. In AAG high school our students make friends for life!
Kuwait’s Ministry of Education is both generous and unique. It offers each and every Kuwaiti high school student a full-scholarship of their choice at universities and colleges around the world. This is an amazing opportunity for our AAG girls. The entire team of high school administrators, teachers and staff feel the obligation to do everything in our power to engrain in our students to develop a sense of responsibility in order to make the Ministry’s set standard GPA for a university scholarship. I am often overheard saying to the high school students, “own your high school experience”. Meaning, we can motivate, nurture and guide our young women but it is ultimately up to each student to set goals, work hard, and go the extra mile towards achieving an incredible high school experience. We believe it is vital for our girls to take charge of their education now so that they are ready to take advantage of every opportunity that awaits them from college and beyond.
I am proud to report again that last year we had three students achieve the AP college credit status. This is wonderful achievement for an ESL student! In addition, the graduating class of 2017 had a 98% rate of students who are now in universities. We have tremendous confidence in the future of our girls.
I wish you all a wonderful school year. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and know that my door is always open.
